Janice met her husband David on a girls night out. They were at a 50's pub in New York City and David was with a friend who had been stood up on a date. During a girls choice slow dance, she asked him to dance and they were never separated until the day David passed away. That was 30 years from the day they met.
David joined the Navy in 1969 and was discharged in 1973. He was in the Submarine service. They moved from New York to North Carolina in 1997. In 1999 they went to a Bingo at the local VFW post and both became life members.
Janice is the mother of one son and two daughters. They have blessed her with four grandsons and one granddaughter. She is a member of not only the VFW Auxiliary, but also the American Legion Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the Tar Heel Base Submarine Veterans Auxiliary, and the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Janice qualified to join the Auxiliary under her husband, a Submarine Service Veteran who served from 1969 to 1973. Her dad was a WWII Army Veteran and her brother was an Army Medic in Vietnam. She joined in 2000 and became a Life Member in 2001.
